표면 기억(Domestic Ornamentation: Memory Trace)’ 시리즈는 일상 공간 속 표면에 새겨진 기억의 흔적을 탐구하는 작업이다. 생활 속 사물, 장식, 질감이 개인적·공동체적 역사를 어떻게 담고 있는지를 관찰하며, 일상의 표면을 기억과 의미의 저장소로 전환한다.
시리즈에서는 생활 공간에서 발견되는 오래된 패턴, 얼룩, 흠집, 미세한 흔적 등에서 시각적 모티프를 추출하고 이를 조형적 요소로 재해석한다. 이러한 과정은 평범한 것들의 조형적 가능성을 강조함과 동시에, 삶의 층위와 경험, 감정, 공동체적 기억을 표면 위에 시각적으로 드러내는 시도이다.
The “Surface Memory (Domestic Ornamentation: Memory Trace)” series explores traces of memory embedded in everyday surfaces. It examines how domestic objects, decorations, and textures carry personal and collective histories, transforming ordinary surfaces into repositories of memory and meaning.
Through the series, visual motifs are extracted from worn patterns, stains, scratches, and subtle marks found in living spaces, and then reinterpreted as compositional elements. This process not only emphasizes the aesthetic potential of the mundane but also highlights the layered narratives of domestic life, connecting material surfaces to experiences, emotions, and communal memory.
