장식의 파편들은 일상 공간 속 흔적에서 발견되는 작은 형태들이다. ‘패턴 필드(Pattern Field)’ 시리즈는 이러한 파편들을 시각적 언어로 재해석하는 연구 과정이다. 오래된 벽지, 철문, 창살 등 일상적 장식 요소에서 형태를 추출하고 모듈화하여, 수채의 투명한 중첩과 반복 구조 속에 재구성한다.
이 조형적 실험은 장식을 단순한 꾸밈이 아닌, 기억과 정체성, 공동체의 미감을 담은 시각적 기호 체계로 확장하려는 시도다. 패턴 필드는 기호들이 서로 연결되고 변형되는 과정을 드러내며, 장식의 비가시적 가치와 기억의 층위를 탐구한다.
장식의 파편들은 모티프로 재조합되어 반복과 변형 속에서 새로운 시각적 언어를 만들어내며, 일상의 공간 속 장식이 지닌 숨은 의미와 기억의 흔적을 드러낸다.
The “Pattern Field” series is a research process that visually reinterprets traces of decoration found in everyday spaces. It extracts and modularizes forms discovered in ordinary decorative elements—such as aged wallpaper, iron gates, and window grilles—and reconstructs them through transparent watercolor layering and repetitive structures.
This formal experimentation seeks to expand decoration beyond mere ornamentation, framing it as a visual system of signs that embodies memory, identity, and the aesthetic sensibilities of a community. Pattern Field functions as a visual structure revealing how these signs connect and transform, exploring both the invisible value of decoration and the layered dimensions of memory.
Fragments of decoration become motifs, modularized and recombined, highlighting the interplay between repetition, transformation, and memory embedded in everyday spaces.
